The Nine Lives of Chloe King question?

In episode 1 did Alek know Chloe was Mai before he was about to kiss her? Or did he think she was human and didn't care if she was paralyzed or dead or paralyzed and dead? Or, did he just want to creep her out? hahah so many possibilities, but which ones right? Plz answer, thanx ^.^
